Queens Strategy
Queens puzzle strategy
The fastest solvers do not guess first. They shrink the board until only legal moves remain.
Start with tiny regions
Small colored regions often have only one or two possible queen cells.
Mark after every queen
After placing a queen, eliminate its row, column, region, and neighboring cells.
Use line locks
When a region's candidates all sit in one row, other cells in that row cannot be queens.
Test only when stuck
If a candidate causes another row or region to have no legal cells, reject it.
